To all of our supporters, we are proud to announce the Guilderland Planning Board unanimously approved the Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS) for the Rapp Road Residential/Western Avenue Mixed Use Redevelopment Projects, on July 29, 2020.
This is a major approval for the projects which will bring the region’s first and only Costco to Western Avenue.
While this is a key milestone in the path to bring more than 1,500 jobs and positive economic development to the Town and region, there are additional steps before this project can become a reality.
We encourage you to continue to show your support for this project. Please join us on Facebook and check back on this website as we provide updates.

Key Facts
Guilderland Town officials are currently considering a project proposed by Pyramid, owner of Crossgates, on adjacent vacant and underutilized parcels.
This proposed development will take place on land already owned by Pyramid and within the footprint of the Town of Guilderland’s Westmere Corridor Study and Transit Oriented Development District, which considered local and regional planning efforts. This project keeps development centered around an already existing and thriving core.
The residential component will appeal to young professionals and empty nesters and bring 222 units online. The retail component will be anchored by the region’s only Costco. Together, these proposed developments will be an economic boon to the region through supporting Crossgates and also increase the number of jobs and tax revenue. Once the projects are complete, the Town of Guilderland and the Guilderland Central School District will see more than $500,000 in new property tax revenues, as well as more than $2 million in new sales tax revenue for Albany County. More than 150 local jobs will be created.
These proposals also include the development of improved pedestrian access, as well as walking and biking trails with and a 20-foot berm, pine trees and a fence to serve as a buffer. Additionally, a third-party independent review has determined that the development will not have a significant impact on traffic in the area.
Construction of the proposed developments will add several hundred construction jobs for local companies.
